Job Description
As a Senior Gameplay Animator at Ubisoft Montréal, you will create animations and animation systems for player characters and non-player characters in a third-person view, helping bring gameplay moments to life while supporting responsiveness, clarity, and immersion.
What you’ll do:
- Create third-person gameplay animations aligned with the visual direction and game design constraints.
- Produce high-quality animations using keyframe animation when required.
- Develop animation solutions for locomotion, 3D navigation, combat behaviors, and scripted gameplay moments.
- Fine-tune animation data with a high level of precision to meet game engine requirements.
- Export and integrate animations following technical guidelines, in collaboration with technical animation, design, and programming teams.
- Test, review, and iterate on animation systems directly in-game.
- Collaborate closely with animators, animation direction, designers, and programmers to deliver features on schedule and at expected quality.
- Take ownership of the final quality of animated features delivered in the game.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of keyframe animation principles, game engines, production pipelines and constraints;
- Proficiency with animation software (preferred: Maya);
- Experience with Unreal Engine and Blueprints;
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem‑solving skills;
- Experience with motion‑capture workflows;
- Familiarity with game engines/tools and game production pipelines.
