Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary range for this position, when hired into our Toronto location, is CAD 110,000- 150,000 per year. For positions based in other jurisdictions, compensation will be determined in alignment with local regulations, market benchmarks, and internal compensation frameworks. The above range reflects the typical base salary range for candidates hired into this position. The actual salary will vary depending on a number of factors, including job location, experience, qualifications, education/training, skills, market conditions, and alignment with the role’s requirements.

In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in our annual incentive program, payment under which is at the discretion of PartnerRe and subject to individual and company performance. Eligible employees also have the opportunity to participate in an array of benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, a health spending account, a defined contribution pension plan, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, etc.

Working Arrangement

About the Role

PartnerRe is seeking a Senior Compensation Partner to join our Global Rewards team. Based in Toronto, this role serves as the primary compensation advisor for designated business and support functions within the Group.

Working in close partnership with aligned HR Business Partners (HRBPs), business leaders, and the broader Rewards team, the Senior Compensation Partner provides both strategic and operational compensation support enabling sound talent decisions, market competitiveness, internal equity, and strong governance.

This position combines consultative partnership with analytical rigor. The successful candidate will develop a deep understanding of the client groups they support and act as a trusted advisor on compensation matters throughout the employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Compensation Partnership

  • Serve as the primary compensation partner and trusted advisor for assigned client groups.
  • Develop strong working relationships with HRBPs and business leaders to understand workforce needs, organizational changes, and talent priorities.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on compensation decisions, including job evaluations, offers, promotions, transfers, retention, merit budget, and organizational changes.
  • Support leaders in balancing market competitiveness,and internal equity.
  • Collaborate with HRBPs and Finance on headcount and compensation expense forecasting.

Annual Compensation Programs

  • Lead all aspects of compensation planning activities for assigned client groups, including:
    • Annual salary reviews
    • Bonus Incentive plan administration
    • Compensation budgeting and modeling
    • Promotion and market adjustment reviews
  • Partner with HRBPs and Finance to evaluate compensation outcomes and ensure alignment with compensation philosophy and budget parameters.
  • Prepare analysis and recommendations for senior leadership review and approval.

Market Analysis & Job Architecture

  • Lead and participate in salary surveys and market benchmarking, ensuring external competitiveness and internal equity.
  • Support the maintenance of job architecture, salary structures, pay ranges, and grading frameworks.
  • Evaluate new or evolving roles and provide recommendations regarding job level, market positioning, and pay practices.
  • Monitor market trends and emerging compensation practices across North America.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compensation decisions align with Company policy and applicable legislation.
  • Manage pay transparency and compensation reporting requirements applicable jurisdictions.
  • Participate in compensation audits and governance reviews.
  • Maintain accurate compensation documentation and decision records.

Analytics & Insights

  • Produce compensation analyses and reporting that support strategic workforce decisions.
  • Identify tr ends, risks, and opportunities related to:
    • Pay equity
    • Market competitiveness
    • Employee movement
    • Retention
    • Compensation costs
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for HRBPs and business leaders.

Rewards Team Collaboration

  • Partner closely with colleagues responsible for:
    • EU/APAC Compensation Partner(s)
    • Benefits and retirement programs
    • Executive compensation
    • Payroll
    • HRIS and People Analytics
  • Lead and contribute to compensation projects, process improvements, system enhancements, and broader Rewards initiatives.
  • Support the ongoing evolution of PartnerRe's global Rewards framework and operating model.

What You'll Bring

Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive compensation experience, ideally within a global or multi-jurisdictional organization.
  • Experience partnering directly with business leaders and HR Business Partners, influencing and advising on compensation decisions and strategy.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Market pricing
    • Salary structure management
    • Incentive programs
    • Compensation planning cycles
    • Job evaluation methodologies
  • Experience supporting compensation programs across multiple North American jurisdictions.
  • Advanced understanding of global pay transparency regulations and trends

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Compensation-related professional designation (CCP, GRP, CEBS, or equivalent) is desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Experience working with HRIS and compensation management systems.
  • Ability to synthesize large data sets into meaningful business recommendations.
  • Leverage AI and analytical tools to increase efficiency, synthesize complex and large datasets, and develop executive-level briefingsmaterials and presentations.

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.
