Description

About our Emerging Talent Program:

Intuit invests in Emerging Talent because fresh perspectives strengthen our products and teams. The program is backed by a culture that values curiosity and collaboration, and you'll be supported by dedicated managers and mentors who are invested in your growth. As an intern or co-op, you'll work on meaningful projects with business impact, many centered on AI and emerging technologies, and contribute to driving  decisions. You'll build skills through function-specific learning opportunities, connect with a global community of interns and co-ops through dedicated programming and social events, and get exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional work across Intuit's product ecosystem. Learn more about our Intern and Co-op Program here.

This co-op opportunity invites you to be a part of the team that provides the server-driven UI platform capabilities for web, iOS and Android for Intuit’s multi-billion dollar applications, QuickBooks and TurboTax, to provide dynamic experiences to our customers. We are even open source!

As a co-op on this team, you’ll build front-end and mobile experiences used by millions of consumers and small businesses. Your skills and interests will shape your projects, so you can land where you make a real impact.

Responsibilities

  • Build front-end and mobile experiences: Design, develop, and test responsive, high-quality UI components for web (ReactJS) and mobile (iOS and Android) using a server-driven UI platform.

  • Work across the stack: Use Java and cloud-based APIs to integrate front-end and mobile experiences with backend services.

  • Collaborate on design and architecture: Join technical discussions, contribute to design decisions, and work closely with designers, UX specialists, and backend engineers.

  • Ensure quality: Write tests, take part in code reviews, and debug and resolve defects.

  • Support our tools and pipelines: Help maintain and improve our CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling.

  • Contribute to planning: Help gather requirements, define technical specifications, and create test plans.

  • Drive continuous improvement: Learn new technologies, share what you learn, and explore innovative solutions, including AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in a post-secondary education program.

  • A graduation date after the co-op term ends.

  • Available for an 8 month (January - August 2027) co-op work term for 40 hours per week

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the co-op term, without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Ability to work in our Toronto office a minimum of 3 days per week.

  • Front-end fundamentals. Experience building responsive, dynamic web applications with ReactJS and a solid grasp of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • Java proficiency. Experience with Java and object-oriented design, plus core data structures and programming concepts.

  • Mobile exposure. Experience developing for iOS or Android (Swift, Kotlin, Java, or Objective-C) or with cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter. Coursework and personal projects count.

  • Collaboration across disciplines. You work well with designers, UX specialists, and backend engineers, and you care about the customer experience you’re building.

  • AI fluency, with healthy skepticism. You’re comfortable using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and agentic coding tools like Claude Code or Cursor) to build and prototype, and you check the output rather than take it at face value.

  • Problem-solving and debugging. You break down ambiguous problems in a structured way and know when to ask for help.

  • Ownership and growth mindset. You take projects from start to finish, communicate progress clearly, and keep learning.

  • Nice to have: Familiarity with git, Agile practices, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), or open-source contributions.
