The Double Leaf Brake Operator is a full-time position reporting to the Metals Production Manager. This position will be based out of our Manufacturing Facility (located at 2365 192 Street Surrey, BC).
A Day In The Life
With Safety as the primary focus, operate a large footprint double folder and other associated accessories such as loaders, slitter, and decoiler
Work with programmer to set up tooling and work offsets to help modify and standardize program parameters as required
Strong understanding of folding systems and related material handling equipment
Srong understanding of sheet metal and finish types for process requirements
Ability to work within standardised, program‑driven production environments
Proven capability to diagnose process issues and communicate clearly with programming and maintenance teams
Demonstrated commitment to quality, repeatability, and safe operation in a high‑throughput environment
Willingness to contribute to continuous improvement, documentation, and operator training
Understanding of CNC‑controlled folding systems, not just manual brake operation
Ability to work within parametric or rule‑based programs
Comfort identifying issues across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control layers
Experience working with machine HMI interfaces, diagnostics screens, and alarm states
Understanding of process capability, repeatability, and tolerance stack‑up
Ability to recognize when a deviation is:
Program‑based
Tooling‑based
Material‑based
Machine‑condition‑based
Familiarity with standard work, setup sheets, or documented operating envelopes
Proficiency using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, angle gauges, bend testers)
Understanding of first‑article verification, in‑process checks, and sign‑off responsibility
Comfort with traceability requirements (job numbers, heat numbers, revision control)
Ability to perform and document operator‑level preventive maintenance
Clear communication of findings to maintenance or engineering
Ability to mentor junior operators
Willingness to support continuous improvement initiatives
What We Are Seeking
5+ years of experience as a primary operator of CNC press brakes and accessories along with knowledge of custom flashings, panels, and sequencing
High School Diploma or equivalent
Post‑secondary training preferred, such as:
Machining / CNC program
Manufacturing Technician diploma
Sheet Metal Worker or Metal Fabrication trade training
Completion of a CNC machining or fabrication certificate
Formal training on:
CNC press brakes/folders
Automated folding systems
Manufacturer training (Thelmann, RAS, Salvagnini, etc.)
Experience with a 26-foot Thelmann TD150 double folder or similar machinery is an advantage
Certifications preferred:
Overhead crane certification
Forklift / Combi- lift certification
Lockout‑Tagout (LOTO) training
WHMIS / industrial safety training
