WhatYou’llBe Doing

Reporting to the Director, Governance, Controls and Finance Operations, the Manager, Governance and Controls, will play a significant role in the implementation of Finance governance, compliance and control initiatives,programsand processes. The positionis responsible forensuring that an effective and well documented internal control structure is in place for Financein accordance withcurrent governance,riskand compliance requirements. The role works with all related infrastructure groups to ensurethat Finance’srisk management and control framework is rigorous and supports the divisionwhile beingconsistent with CIBC’s policies and procedures. The role is also responsible for the test of controls, deficiency management, and assertion process for Finance group.

HowYou’llSucceed

  • Control activities -Test the design and operating effectiveness of FPC, RCM and OPC internal controls within Finance, including executing the annual internal control test plan forFinance, schedulingand facilitating walkthroughs, perform management testing and following-up on issues or deficiencies raised by Finance Management, CIBC’s Global Operational Risk Management, internal/external auditors, regulators and the control performers. In addition,facilitatequarterly assertion process for Finance groups, review and provide feedback on existing process and procedure documents, andparticipateand support the SOMO with key initiatives and projects (e.g.development ofend to endProcess Map, process documents, etc.), asrequired.

  • GovernanceWork closely with the SOMO to provideadviceto Accountable Officers on Governance best practices in alignment with CIBC policiesand industrystandards

  • Operational risk managementEnsurethe completionofassignedincident reports, Risk and controls self-assessments and change initiative risk assessments.

Who You Are

  • You candemonstrateexperience inor havestrongknowledge of financial products (products and processes) and control activities with a minimum of 3-5yearsworking experience. It would be an asset if you had a background in risk management, process documentation and control design in the context of a financial services organization and/or financial, operational, management and general entity controls to enable the creation of a sound control framework and the continuous improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls across the division.

  • You have a degree in Business Management (or equivalent) and completion or working towards an accounting designation.
