Hourly Rate:$44.294 - $54.487

Position Summary:

NorWest Co-op Community Health Centre is looking for a Men’s Family Violence Counsellor to join our Family Violence and Prevention Programs team. This position provides counselling, case management, group facilitation, and support to men impacted by family violence. The successful candidate will use a trauma-informed, client-centered, and non-judgmental approach to help clients build safety, make positive changes, and work toward their goals. The Counsellor will also work closely with the NorWest team and community partners to support coordinated services and help reduce barriers for clients.

Education & Registration

·Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) required.

·Active registration with the Manitoba College of Social Workers.

Experience

·Minimum 2 years of experience in case management and supportive counselling.

·Experience working with individuals impacted by family violence.

·Experience in facilitating groups is required.

·Experience working with culturally diverse populations.

·Knowledge and understanding of family violence, trauma-informed practice, and safety planning.

·Experience with risk assessment, clinical judgment, and collaborative care planning.

·Knowledge of community resources and service systems.

Key Responsibilities

·Provide individual counselling, case management, and supportive services to clients.

·Facilitate groups such as Caring Dads and other family violence prevention programs.

·Complete assessments and develop individualized safety and support plans.

·Work collaboratively with clients to identify and achieve SMART goals.

·Provide therapeutic interventions using approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing.

·Monitor client progress and adjust care plans as needed.

·Support clients in navigating community resources and complex systems.

·Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client documentation.

·Collect and report program and client data to support program evaluation and improvement.

·Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and community partners.

·Advocate for improved access to services and reduced barriers for individuals impacted by family violence.

·Participate in service development and other program activities as required.

• Strong assessment, problem-solving, and clinical decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to cultural humility and working respectfully with diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
• Knowledge of evidence-based counselling approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing is an asset.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
• Commitment to client safety, empowerment, and self-determination
