Job Description:

TD Securities Corporate & Investment Banking provides financial advisory, capital-raising, liquidity, transaction banking, and risk-management solutions to corporate and institutional clients.

This Associate role sits within the Corporate & Investment Banking Analytics team and delivers business performance analysis and decision-oriented insights across CIB. The successful candidate will work with stakeholders to frame business questions, connect financial and operational information, and identify opportunities to improve performance.

Business storytelling is central to the position. The Associate will turn complex analysis into concise, executive-ready narratives that explain performance drivers, implications, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions. The role is expected to move beyond compiling information or producing recurring reports by proactively identifying where management attention may be required.

The role also supports proactive expense management, including analysis of expense drivers and client recovery effectiveness. It acts as an analytical conduit among CIB, Finance, Product Control, Operations, Technology, and Business Management. The Associate will use information from these partners to provide business-led analysis and help management take informed action.

Job Responsibilities

1. Business Performance Analysis and Advisory

  • Develop a strong understanding of CIB businesses, products, clients, financial drivers, operating model, and strategic priorities.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify analytical opportunities and translate business objectives, performance concerns, and ambiguous questions into structured analysis.
  • Analyze revenue and profitability, client and product performance, cross-sell opportunities, pipeline and origination, capital and RAROC, productivity, operating efficiency, and emerging risks.
  • Use trend, variance, segmentation, driver, and scenario analysis to explain performance and identify opportunities.
  • Connect financial and non-financial information to provide a complete view of performance and proactively surface patterns, exceptions, and risks.
  • Own analytical assignments from problem definition through executive presentation while managing multiple priorities.

2. Executive Storytelling and Management Decision Support

  • Translate complex analysis into concise narratives explaining what is occurring, why it matters, and what management should consider doing.
  • Own the preparation of relevant analytical materials, dashboards, visualizations, and performance narratives for CIB business executives.
  • Present findings to senior stakeholders and respond to questions with appropriatesupporting analysis.
  • Tailor content to the audience and distinguish business decision support from baseline reporting owned by Finance.
  • Communicate assumptions and limitations clearly, challenge assumptions constructively, and develop reusable frameworks for recurring management questions.

3. Expense Analysis and Proactive Expense Management

  • Identify which bankers, clients, projects, products, activities, vendors, or patterns are contributing to expense growth.
  • Analyze expense trends, concentrations, anomalies, and emerging concerns, and provide targeted recommendations rather than reproducing baseline financial reports.
  • Assess applicable client expense recovery, including relationships among incurred expenses, projects or transactions, invoices, and recovered amounts.
  • Identify unrecovered expenses, delayed recovery, leakage patterns, and opportunities to improve recovery effectiveness.
  • Develop forward-looking insights and scenarios that help the business understand potential expense outcomes.
  • Partner with Finance, Product Control, Operations, and Technology to understand source information, definitions, and processes while maintaining clear accountability boundaries.
  • Maintain working knowledge of relevant expense policies and provide analytical or coordination support relating to invoices without owning ongoing processing or administration.
  • Support the transition of recurring expense-policy administration and invoice-related activities to Business Operations or another appropriate owner.

4. Cross-Functional Coordination and Business Enablement

  • Act as an analytical conduit among CIB business stakeholders, Finance, Product Control, Operations, Technology, and Business Management.
  • Clarify business objectives, analytical requirements, definitions, assumptions, dependencies, and ownership boundaries across teams.
  • Coordinate information and delivery without assuming ownership of other functions’ processes.
  • Help ensure analytical outputs use consistent business logic and support executive decision-making.
  • Work with Technology when analytical solutions require new data, automation, controlled implementation, or broader scaling.
  • Support transition of stable reporting, invoice-related,policy-administration, or other operational activities to the appropriate owner.
  • Informally guide junior analysts or project resources and contribute analytical and storytelling best practices across the team.

5. Analytics Delivery, Data Quality and AI Enablement

  • Use Power BI, SQL, Databricks, and related tools to prepare data, perform analysis, and develop dashboards or analytical solutions.
  • Build fit-for-purpose analytical tools, visualizations, and prototypes that address defined business needs.
  • Prepare, combine, validate, and reconcile financial, operational, client, and product information from multiple sources.
  • Define and document business rules, calculations, assumptions, data sources, limitations, and appropriate data-quality checks.
  • Contribute to reusable datasets, business definitions, semantic models, and analytical frameworks.
  • Apply approved AI and GenAI tools to accelerate analysis, commentary, information synthesis, and structured workflows.
  • Contribute to agentic workflows with appropriate validation and human oversight, partnering with technical specialists where advanced engineering is required.

  • Familiarity with expense policies, financial controls, data governance, lineage, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Exposure to Power Automate, Python, advanced statistics, or related analytical and automation tools.
