Minimum Requirements
- 10 -15+ years of progressive experience in corporate taxation, including leadership experience managing and developing teams
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- CPA designation required, with completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program
- Deep knowledge of Canadian Income Tax legislation, tax compliance, and tax reporting requirements
- Strong understanding of IAS 12 and income tax accounting principles; exposure to U.S. and international taxation is considered an asset
- Experience with tax technology solutions and tax compliance software such as TaxPrep or equivalent systems
- Proven ability to influence business decisions through strategic thinking, risk management, sound judgment, and strong stakeholder relationship skills

Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Oversee the preparation and filing of corporate income tax returns and ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations
- Lead the calculation and reporting of tax provisions, current taxes, and other tax-related components for financial reporting and public disclosures
- Manage relationships with tax authorities, including correspondence with the CRA, audits, and resolution of tax matters
- Partner with Finance and other business functions to support quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements related to taxation
- Drive the implementation and optimization of tax technology solutions, processes, and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Develop and execute tax risk management and governance strategies to protect the organization and ensure compliance
- Provide strategic tax advice on business initiatives, transactions, and emerging tax legislation to support organizational objectives
- Represent the company externally through industry associations, professional tax forums, and government consultation or advocacy initiatives
Location and other Key Details:
- This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based on years of experience and scope of work
