Key Accountabilities

  • Direct the development and management of a prioritized pipeline of material cost, productivity, revenue and financial-performance opportunities aligned with Corporate priorities and financial objectives.
  • Lead targeted reviews of material, recurring or cross-functional cost and performance issues to identify underlying operational, process, resource, technology and accountability drivers; quantify opportunities and recommend practical actions.
  • Lead or coordinate initiatives to strengthen revenue integrity and optimize revenue, including revenue leakage, billing and collection process gaps, non-tariffed service fees, cost recovery, missed billable activity and other opportunities.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis and independent decision support for complex or emerging matters of enterprise significance, including financial modelling, options and scenario analysis, investigations and fact finding.
  • Assess end-to-end accountabilities, hand-offs and operating models where financial performance issues cross organizational boundaries; facilitate decisions and support accountable leaders in implementing agreed changes.
  • Mobilize and coordinate the business, financial, process-improvement, technology and other expertise required to evaluate opportunities, design practical solutions and support implementation.
  • Work with accountable leaders to establish implementation plans, milestones, ownership and expected outcomes; identify barriers and support corrective action through to transition and sustainment.
  • Work with Finance and business leaders to ensure financial impacts are appropriately validated and sustainable improvements are reflected in Corporate forecasts, budgets and financial plans.
  • Provide concise, evidence-based recommendations, portfolio updates, risks and decisions required to the CFO, Executive and other governance bodies.
  • Strengthen financial acumen by helping leaders understand cost and revenue drivers and apply financial and operational information to material decisions and improvement opportunities.
  • Direct and develop the Enterprise Financial Performance function, establish effective operating practices and resource requirements, lead assigned employees, and oversee the effective use of matrixed and contracted resources.
  • Monitor relevant utility, cost-management, revenue-assurance and enterprise-performance practices and recommend approaches that can improve sustainable Corporate financial outcomes.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, business performance, financial analysis, operational improvement, commercial analysis, transformation or related work in a complex organization, including leadership of significant cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of regulated utility, energy or similarly asset-intensive operations and the relationship among safety, reliability, customer service, cost structures, revenues, capital investment, regulation and financial performance.
  • Demonstrated financial and commercial acumen, including interpretation of financial statements, cost and revenue drivers, business cases, complex financial modelling, scenario analysis and translation of operational issues into financial implications.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritize material opportunities, move from analysis to practical action, and influence accountable leaders without assuming operational authority.
  • Knowledge of revenue assurance, cost management, end-to-end process analysis, operating-model design, performance improvement, implementation and benefit-realization practices.
  • Exceptional judgment, facilitation, negotiation and executive communication skills, with the ability to constructively challenge established practices and work effectively across organizational boundaries.
