Civil/mechanical Equipment Operator

Job Overview:

Primoris Services Corporation is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Civil/Mechanical Equipment Operator to operate heavy machinery for various construction and maintenance projects. This role involves performing earthwork, excavation, material handling, and other related tasks to support project completion efficiently and safely.

Job Responsibilities:**

* Operate a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, trenchers, and forklifts, in a safe and efficient manner.
* Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify potential issues.
* Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, to maintain a safe working environment.
* Interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and other instructions to ensure accurate execution of tasks.
* Perform earthmoving, trenching, grading, compacting, and other civil construction tasks as directed.
* Assist with loading and unloading materials, supplies, and equipment.
* Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other personnel on site.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area.
* Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or incidents promptly.
* May perform manual labor duties when not operating equipment, such as digging, lifting, and carrying materials.

Job Qualifications:**

* High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating heavy civil/mechanical equipment on construction sites.
* Demonstrated proficiency in operating multiple types of heavy equipment.
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred but not always required depending on project needs.
* Strong understanding of construction site safety procedures and best practices.
* Ability to read and interpret grade stakes, blueprints, and project plans.
* Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
* Ability to work effectively in various weather conditions and challenging outdoor environments.
* Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
* Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
