Network & Systems Administrator

Overview

The Network & Systems Administrator ensures the security, reliability, and performance of the organization’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, hardware, and cloud environments. This role combines hands-on technical management with proactive problem-solving and clear communication across technical and non-technical teams. Key responsibilities includemaintainingandoptimizingsystems, implementing cybersecurity measures, and supporting scalable, high-performing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Configure, install, andmonitornetwork devices (firewalls, switches, load balancers, wireless access points,routers,etc).
Administer andmaintaincomputer networks, servers, and related environments (hardware, software, applications).
Monitor system and networkperformance andproactivelyidentifyand resolve issues to minimize downtime.
Perform data backups, disaster recovery operations, and system upgrades (patches, hotfixes, security configurations).
Ensure compliance with information security procedures and perform security hardening for both cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
Support integration of new applications and technologies.
Contribute to network design and implementation projects, including segmentation, micro-segmentation, and cabinet security.
Provide technical support to service desk and end users (Level 2/3),participatingin on-call rotations and off-hourswork.
Coordinate with vendors and service providers for network upgrades or troubleshooting.
Maintainaccuratedocumentation and follow change management proceduresforcompliance and operational continuity.
Participate in network automation and monitoring initiatives, including tools like Ansible,Netbox, andAuvik.
Stay current with emerging technologies, threats, and tools.
Train and support staff on network tools and best practices.

Qualifications:

Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, ora relatedfield.
3+years of experience inITnetwork administration orITinfrastructure roles.
Experience with Windows Server/Workstation environments.
Familiarity withMicrosoft Azure andenterprise-grade firewalls (e.g.,Sophos, Cisco, Fortinet).
Proven experience with networking protocols (TCP/IP,BGP, OSPF, VPN, SD-WAN,etc.) and routing.
Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMWare, Hyper-V, Citrix).
Intermediate understanding of backup systems and disaster recovery methodologies.
Knowledge of Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and cloud infrastructure.
Scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or similar languagesare an asset.
Certifications such as CCNP, CISSP, Security+ are considered assets.
