Director, Operational Readiness, Redevelopment Project BC Cancer Provincial, BC Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director, Clincal Lead, Redevelopment Project is responsible and accountable for clinical program development and implementation of clinical services within major capital projects for the BC Cancer plays a key role in this capital project to ensure that facility developments support and enable clinical care and operations; acts as an advocate for clinical operations and a liaison to clinical operation professionals in the development of functional clinical space. The Director is also responsible for ensuring that the model of care for clinical services and programs are well defined, operationally feasible, appropriately resourced and effectively implemented within major capital projects with a strong focus on clinical best practices, operational efficiencies and effectiveness; provides leadership and initiative in the clinical planning, design and implementation of services and programs to be delivered that support BC Cancer's overall care needs; participates in the development of strategic planning and operational planning and works closely with clinical leadership teams, Lower Mainland Facilities Management (LMFM), community representatives, internal/external partners and public and private partners. What you’ll do Lead the development of the clinical service plans, functional programming and design development in partnership with the project team and executive director; liaises with the Clinical Leads, internal partners, other agencies, LMFM, public and private partners to plan clinical program and service requirements for the project. Responsible for leading, facilitating and coordinating partners inputs for development of clinical service planning deliverables for BC Cancer Capital Redevelopment Projects. Lead re-design and initiatives including adoption of best practices to better integrate and streamline clinical services, optimize quality and ensure cost effectiveness; ensures appropriate quality and safety measures are in place. Work closely with clinical and operations teams of physicians, senior administrators and other health care professionals to identify program and service requirements; reviews and integrates service delivery models, clinical standards and operational guidelines for each of the assigned clinical services. Plan responsive care delivery systems, services, resolves and facilitates the coordination of service; oversee and direct the clinical planning of programs/services during the planning and construction phases; work with the Senior Executive Team of BC Cancer to ensure that an appropriate clinical planning and clinical operations project management plan is developed, maintained and implemented; report on the status and execution of activities and risks. Proactively manage risks and issues relating to service planning, escalating issues as appropriate. What you bring Qualifications: A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Health Administration or related discipline and a clinical background in a related health care discipline. A minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years' recent related experience in progressively more complex and senior management roles in a large complex multi-site organization, including five (5) years' recent related clinical and operational experience with health care planning, strategic and major project development/planning focusing on acute care service planning and/or redesign, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Oversees compliance and achievement of the health regulator practice standards set out by the Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility, and Anti-Racism practice standard within the areas of nursing and allied health. Fosters an anti-racist, ethical practice and well-being through oversight of the ethics and spiritual health program. Leads and develops high-performing, interdisciplinary teams, fostering and modelling a culture free from racism and discrimination and of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and learning. You have: Demonstrated ability to manage large scale projects in a health care environment that achieve high quality outcomes and exceed partners expectations. Demonstrated ability to define, lead, plan, direct, manage and implement business and management processes. Demonstrated ability to maintain, function and develop rapport with Executive Management, senior operating executives and other partners. Ability to manage the operational detail associated with a large and complex environment. Broad knowledge of clinical operations and service planning for clinical, non-clinical and support services in an acute care facility, Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Lean process redesign experience as an asset. Experience managing human resources and direct reports. Demonstrated oral, written and presentation skills. Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others both internal and external to the organization. Demonstrated change management and conflict resolution skills and experience. Excellent facilitation skills when working with an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to facilitate and negotiate achievement of milestones within approved project scope timelines. Demonstrated ability to respond to the needs of partners supported by an acute awareness of the impact of action. Demonstrated leadership skills with proven ability to bring about change in a proactive manner. Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure with changing priorities and deadlines. Demonstrated knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism and racism on Indigenous Peoples in social and health contexts, including clear understanding of and commitment to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination and embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of applicable provincial legislative obligations, including the Health Professions and Occupations Act (2022, in force 2026). Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of provincial commitments within PHSA contexts from provincial and national foundational documents including In Plain Sight (2020) and others. Demonstrated capability to lead by example in advancing Indigenous-specific anti-racism and broader DEI and anti-racism objectives and in fostering a culture of continuous learning, inclusion and belonging. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.
