Job Description

The House of Commons’ Financial Services is currently looking to staff the following positions:

  • Senior Lead, Financial Reporting
  • Senior Financial Advisor
  • Financial Management Advisor

These positions may be staffed on either a permanent (indeterminate) basis or through a one-year term appointment.

Senior Lead, Financial Reporting: You will be responsible for overseeing activities relating to the accounting for and reporting of financial information, using advanced accounting and financial reporting techniques to ensure effective use of House resources.  You will also be responsible for applying accounting principles, policies and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure the overall comprehensive and seamless administration and supervision of the effective processing of financial data, importing of pay files, and reconciliations. 

Senior Financial Advisor: You will be responsible for providing strategic advice, analysis and recommendations to support the decisions of senior management and identifying, analyzing and developing solutions to potential and emerging risks to the integrity of operations. You will also lead the design and maintenance of the systems and infrastructure required to collect, analyze and interpret feedback received from clients.

Financial Management Advisor: You will be responsible for providing financial planning, analysis and advisory services to clients, including monitoring and analyzing budgets, expenditures and financial forecasts to support sound decision-making and resource management. You will also provide advice and recommendations on financial pressures, risks and funding requirements, prepare financial reports, and contribute to the development and improvement of financial tools, processes and practices.

Qualifications

Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution in finance, commerce or business administration.

Experience :

  • Extensive experience in the preparation of comprehensive financial reports;
  • Extensive experience in providing strategic financial advisory services;
  • Extensive experience in conducting and/or directing the review of financial transactions and resolving complex financial issues;
  • Extensive experience in applying accounting strategies, principles and practices, including financial policies and best practices;
  • Extensive experience in employee supervision (Required for the Senior Lead, Financial Reporting and the Senior Financial Advisor position).

Assets :

  • Experience using an Integrated Financial System such as PeopleSoft, Unit4, Oracle, SAP;
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA), in-progress or completed.
