Attaching loads to rigging machinery in order to move them safely from one location to another.
Ensuring the appropriate size and type of bolts, clamps, shackles, slings, and other rigging hardware are used for each attachment.
Manipulating rigging lines, hoists, and related equipment to control and safely position heavy equipment or materials.
Ensuring selected cables, pulleys, winches, and other rigging equipment are suitable for the weight and configuration of the load.
Communicating effectively with crane operators, construction staff, and other crew members using verbal communication and standardized hand signals to ensure the safe and correct movement of heavy equipment and materials.
Testing and setting up rigging equipment prior to each lift or movement to ensure safety, stability, and maneuverability.
Ensuring compliance with safe hoisting and rigging practices throughout all stages of the rigging process.
Performing hoisting and rigging equipment cleanup, inspection, and routine maintenance to ensure equipment remains safe, clean, and ready for use.
Inspecting rigging gear for signs of wear, damage, or defects and reporting any issues as required.
Ensuring all rigging gear, tools, and equipment are properly cleaned, maintained, organized, and stored for the next shift.
Assembling and dismantling rigging equipment at the beginning and end of each shift or as required.
Following all applicable workplace health and safety procedures and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Previous experience working with cranes, including Tower Cranes, and with hoisting and rigging equipment.
Possess a valid Rigging Ticket.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use proper rigging hand signals and communicate effectively with crane operators and site personnel.
Experience with hoisting and rigging equipment cleanup, inspection, maintenance, and proper storage.
Valid WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform, and Fall Arrest certificates are required.
Previous experience working at water treatment plants or facilities, heavy industrial sites, or high-rise construction projects would be considered an asset.
Experience operating a skid steer and/or telehandler would be considered an asset.
Excellent communication, positive attitude, and strong teamwork skills.
Ability to work safely in a fast-paced construction environment and follow directions and established safety procedures.
