The Opportunity

We’re looking for Geomatics graduates who are ready to launch their career in Prince George, BC, within our Cities and Communities team. As a Geomatics (Survey) New Graduate at McElhanney, you’ll gain hands-on experience across field and office environments, supporting projects that help shape communities, infrastructure, and the built environment across Northern BC.

Starting in Summer 2027 or after graduation, you’ll be exposed to a wide range of surveying and geomatics work, using industry-leading technology while building practical skills quickly. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, active project work, and learning directly from experienced professionals. What You’ll Do

As part of our Geomatics team within Cities and Communities, you’ll:

• Support field crews using GNSS, and total stations.
• Work closely with Project Managers to complete surveys, collect data, and prepare plans, for project delivery.
• Research plans, titles, records, and other geospatial information.
• Maintain, monitor, and report on the condition of survey equipment and vehicles.
• Work across both field and office environments, supporting municipal, land development, transportation, utility, and community infrastructure projects.
• Learn and operate emerging technologies such as drones, 3D laser scanning, and unmanned survey equipment.
• Participate in McElhanney’s industry‑leading safety practices,  ensuring teams Think Safe, Work Safe, and Get Home Safe.
• Expect early starts, active days, and plenty of time outdoors.

What You’ll Bring

• A Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, or a related program (completed or near completion).
• A genuine interest in field‑based, hands‑on work.
• Physical ability to work on active sites, varied terrain, and lift equipment.
• Willingness to work outdoors for extended periods in sometimes remote environments.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and clear communication skills.
• Previous outdoor, field, construction, municipal, or land development experience is an asset.

The wage range for this position is $27 - $37 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
