About the Role:

The Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement, storage, and management of materials within the warehouse. This position is responsible for accurately selecting, palletizing and preparing customer orders for distribution, and moving products within the warehouse according to direction provided through our computerized warehousing program. The Material Handler ensures that all inventory is handled safely and organized systematically to maintain workflow continuity and meet operational deadlines. This role requires close collaboration with team members and the use of specialized equipment to optimize material flow and maintain workplace safety standards. Ultimately, the Material Handler contributes to the overall success of the supply chain by maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and safety in all material handling activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven experience in warehouse management or material handling within a transportation or warehousing environment.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy weights safely and repeatedly throughout the workday.
• Familiarity with RF scanning technology and order picking processes.
• Previous experience in operating stand-up forklifts and pallet jacks is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a warehouse environments.
• Additional forklift certifications or training in advanced material handling equipment is preferred.
• Experience with inventory management software or warehouse management systems (WMS) is preferred.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to warehousing and transportation.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Select, palletize and ensure customer orders are fulfilled with accuracy and quality.
• Use RF scanners to pick and track orders accurately for shipment preparation.
• Operate pallet jacks, stand-up forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Stack, palletize, and organize materials in a manner that safeguards the integrity of the product, and is compliant our food safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to warehouse safety protocols and reporting any hazards or equipment malfunctions.

Skills:

The required skills such as warehouse management and the use of RF scanners are essential for accurately tracking and processing inventory on a daily basis. Lifting and carrying heavy weights, along with operating pallet jacks and stand-up forklifts, are critical for moving materials safely and efficiently throughout the warehouse. Picking orders requires precision and attention to detail, ensuring that customer orders are fulfilled correctly and on time. The ability to work under ambient lighting conditions and use tactile skills to handle materials supports safe and effective operations in various warehouse settings. Preferred skills like advanced equipment operation and familiarity with warehouse management systems enhance productivity and contribute to continuous improvement in material handling processes.
