Financial Analyst

Financial Analyst 

Work Location:6080 Young Street, Halifax, NS (On-site, 5 days per week) 
Department: Finance & Corporate Services 
Reports To: Accounting Manager 

Employment Status: Full time, 40 hours per week 

In this role, you will be part of a team primarily focused on balance sheet accounts and various supporting corporate services. Financial Analysts are responsible for providing financial and administrative support for projects, month-end activities and financial reporting.

   Key Responsibilities

• Capital Project Analysis and Maintenance 

• Capital Expenditures Analysis 

• Journal Entry Preparation 

• GL Reconciliations 

• Differentiating Between Capital and Current Expenses 

• Monthly Accruals 

• Receiving Purchase Orders 

• Billing Requests 

• Ad Hoc Requests 

    Qualifications:

• Completion of post-secondary education with a focus in accounting 

• Current enrollment or desire to enroll in a professional accounting designation is considered an asset 

• One to three years of relevant experience 

• Ability to prioritize and consistently meet deadlines 

• Desire to work in a positive and dynamic team environment 

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 

• Ability to multi-task and adapt to continuous change 

• Have strong analytical and critical-thinking skills 

• Ability to communicate effectively and build working relationships across departments 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
