Position Summary 

The Manager- Methods Engineerin g is accountable for the development and improvement of structural, or detail part manufacturing documentation to define aircraft sub-assemblies, and parts in accordance with the type design. They will support Production, Quality, Engineering, and other internal groups in solving technical problems and manage the incorporation of engineering change into the build.

The position provides a unique opportunity to develop and build the manufacturing system for the new De-Havilland Aircraft. The selected candidate should be skilled in planning, coordinating, process development and scaling, problem solving and executing successful business plans. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Perform the key responsibilities of Methods Engineering Technologists and lead a team within a functional discipline of structural, Assembly/Sub-Assembly or detail part manufacturing.
  • Set objectives in line with company goals and manage team and individual performance.
  • Ensure adherence to Engineering and Quality system processes to deliver high quality planning documentation that meets program, customer schedule and expectations.
  • Support Production in the manufacture of parts and aircraft and resolve technical issues while optimizing production work packages.
  • Define and continuously optimize processes / tools / behaviors considering business requirements, customer needs, technical innovations, and new market conditions.
  • Review Engineering change for manufacturability and harmonization within the manufacturing process.
  • Remain in close contact with staff on the status of their work. Keep track of their progress and adherence estimated task schedule.
  • Develop team members to reach their full potential through Coaching, Training and Performance management along with the Manager. 

 Education 

  • Combination of education and experience in Aerospace and/or manufacturing will be considered.
  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Technician in Aerospace or Equivalent combination of education and experience in a relevant field (Aeronautical, Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace Manufacturing, etc.) 

Experience 

  • 3+ years of manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering experience in a large component manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Previous experience leading a team an asset.
  • Working knowledge of cost accounting and cost estimating.  

Skills 

  • Advanced knowledge in MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage and act on multiple projects and priorities at one time.
  • Ability to present complex information to Executive levels
  • Innovative thinking and have a good decision-making process
  • Strong customer focus and great ability to work as a team player.
