About this opportunity

Are you interested in making a difference in a client's everyday life by caring for them with compassion, dignity and respect? As a Community Support Worker at CBI Health, you will work alongside an interdisciplinary team in the community to assist clients to pursue and fulfill their goals, objectives and aspirations in a safe and compassionate manner.

Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day

  • Part time opportunity for a post secondary student for a Community Support Worker position.  This candidate will facilitate community members’ safe access and use of the public transit system.
  • Education on boarding and de-boarding the bus with mobility devices; planning routes; accessing bus stops and appropriate behaviours while riding the bus.
  • Support to help people feel safe and confident using public transportation 
  • Position requires availability for 2 days, 4 hours per shift to be scheduled from Mon-Fri between 10am-2pm. 

What you need to be successful

  • Previous experience in a healthcare/rehabilitation setting, and working with people with diverse physical, cognitive and mental health needs.
  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary degree or diploma program in healthcare sciences
  • Knowledge of the transit system is an asset.
  • A client-centred approach
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills are essential
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • An ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Respect, patience and understanding with diverse clients
  • An ability to take and follow direction
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
