We are seeking an energetic & proactive individual for the position of Labourer, in our Foundations Department, responsible for supporting the Foundations Project Managers with basic tasks, housekeeping, snow removal, plating foundations, and concrete repairs, while developing foundational safety, quality, and construction skills.

You Will Bring
- No formal education is required but must be able to demonstrate safe and efficient use of power and hand tools (Paslode, Saws, Impact Drills, etc.)
- 0 - 1 year experience as a Labourer in residential construction environment
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation
Exceptional Skills Required
- Strong communication skills
- Motivated to work hard and be a contributing team member
- Must have the ability to perform physically challenging work and lift a minimum of 50lbs
- Performs duties efficiently and complete high-quality concrete repairs
Responsibilities
Foundation/Concrete Fundamentals
- Can complete minor repairs as needed and can complete larger repairs with clear direction
- Can chalk, plate, transit, and grout foundations to Caivan Quality Standards
- Understands ABIC’s Foundation Labourer standardized work and can complete all tasks proficiently
- Follows company safety standards, including identifying and reporting hazards
Initiative
- Takes ownership of tasks, including identifying unplanned items or asking Management for additional work for idle time
- Actively seeks to understand the Foundation processes
- Open for feedback and willingness to learn from fellow team members
Team Collaboration
- Supports Team Members
- Communicates clearly and respectfully
- Consistently shows up on time, prepared, and ready to work
- Participates actively in PDCAs (Plan / Do / Check / Act). Suggests better ways to perform tasks to make improvements to the overall department process

Working Conditions
- The job description implies the performance of repetitive tasks
- Majority of time is spent on construction sites – the position works near moving mechanical machinery and high noise levels
- Work may involve exposure to all types of weather, operating equipment, noise, dust, fumes, chemicals and high-risk activities
- Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and priorities
- PPE (hard hat, Hi-Vis & steel toes boots) is required at all times in field settings
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, bend, and stand for long periods and perform strenuous physical labour in all weather conditions
- Ability to travel to different projects throughout the City of Ottawa, if required
- May involve visits to an industrial warehouse environment
