We are seeking an organized & proactive individual for the position of Labourer, in our Finish Department, responsible to assist with managing the construction of homes within a community. This role requires maintaining construction schedules, coordinating trades, materials, and documentation, and overseeing site cleanup and preparation of homes under construction.

You Will Bring

  • 0 - 1 year experience as Labourer in residential construction environment
  • A valid driver’s license & reliable vehicle
  • Ability to lift/move 50lbs
  • Knowledge of the proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in construction work

  • Work to complete tasks efficiently in a timely manner
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision


Responsibilities

  • Support the Construction Technician and Project Manager to help deliver the construction of assigned homes 
  • Deliver homes on schedule, while upholding Caivan’s core values
  • Ensure the cleanliness and presentation of individual lots in the community (ex. debris in appropriate and designated places)
  • Prepare the homes for the next trade (including debris clean up, removing cardboard, mopping, and sweeping)
  • Provide access to required trade partners & maintain home cleanliness
  • Winter checks & protection
  • Manage and ensure that the task organizational list is up to date and implemented
  • Conduct work in alignment with Caivan’s Health & Safety policies and reporting process
  • Contribute and adhere to standardized work processes
  • All other duties assigned by the Manager


Working Conditions

  • The job description implies the performance of repetitive tasks
  • Majority of time is spent on construction sites
  • Work may involve exposure to weather, noise, dust, and high-risk activities
  • Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and priorities
  • PPE (hard hat & steel toes boots) is required at all times in field settings
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods and perform strenuous physical labour in all weather conditions
  • Ability to travel to different projects throughout the City of Ottawa
