What are your contributions to the team?

Installation Design & Integration

  • Develop and review 3D installation layouts, equipment arrangements, routing, supports, assemblies, and detail drawings for assigned aircraft systems, excluding electrical wiring.
  • Define physical interfaces, clearances, access, attachment concepts, and installation provisions for equipment, ducts, pipes, tubes, hoses, and related hardware.
  • Balance functional installation requirements with safety, maintainability, manufacturability, assembly, weight, cost, and aircraft-zone constraints.

Multidisciplinary Coordination

  • Coordinate installation definition with system functional engineering, structures, stress, interiors, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, safety, manufacturing, quality, maintainability, and mass properties.
  • Manage spatial integration and resolve clashes, access constraints, installation sequence issues, and interface discrepancies.
  • Coordinate technical definition with partners, suppliers, and operations teams, as applicable.

Design Maturity, Compliance & Support

  • Support design reviews, installation compliance, verification and validation, qualification, and certification activities.
  • Provide technical solutions for production, supplier, ground-test, flight-test, and in-service installation issues.
  • Manage engineering changes, assess impacts, and maintain configuration and product data in the applicable PLM environment.

Level-specific contribution

  • Lead complex, multi-zone or multi-system design activities and define coherent technical approaches.
  • Review and approve significant technical solutions within delegated authority and lead difficult investigations.
  • Mentor engineers, influence decisions without direct authority, and improve standards, methods, and digital practices.

How to thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or another relevant engineering discipline, as appropriate to the role.
  • Typically 10-15 years of relevant aerospace engineering experience.

Technical knowledge

  • Aircraft systems installation and physical integration
  • Routing and installation of equipment, ducts, pipes, tubes, hoses, brackets, and supports
  • Clearance, access, maintainability, installation sequence, environmental, and zone constraints
  • Engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturing methods, certification fundamentals, and configuration control

Tools & methods

  • CATIA V5, ENOVIA, and MS Office; knowledge of NX and Teamcenter is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of PLM, product definition, engineering change, and configuration management processes appropriate to the level.

Leadership & behavioural capabilities

  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Collaborative approach with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement, analytical problem-solving, organization, and accountability.
