Build and grow National Bank’s Global Transaction Banking franchise across Quebec.

A career as a Director or Associate Director, Global Transaction Banking (GTB), within National Bank Capital Markets (NBCCM) means acting as a trusted advisor to a diversified group of corporate, institutional and sponsor-backed clients headquartered in or having their principal activities located in Quebec across various industries. You will develop and deepen treasury relationships, drive deposit growth, identify liquidity opportunities, and deliver transaction banking solutions that strengthen National Bank’s position as a primary banking partner.

In this individual contributor, client-facing contributor role, you will combine relationship ownership, business development and treasury advisory. You will bring an entrepreneurial, commercially minded approach, originate opportunities independently, lead senior client dialogue and mobilize partners across a matrixed organization.

You will work closely with partners across Capital Markets, including Corporate and Investment Banking, Debt and Equity Capital Markets and Risk Management Solutions, to originate and execute opportunities related to clients’ liquidity management policies and working capital needs.

The position may be filled at either the Associate Director or Director level, depending on experience, Quebec market connectivity and demonstrated ability to originate, develop and lead client relationships.

Your Job

  • Own, develop and grow a portfolio of strategic corporate and institutional client relationships throughout Quebec, with direct accountability for relationship development, client experience, deposits and transaction banking growth.
  • Build strategic relationships with treasurers, controllers and finance leaders, and position National Bank as a primary treasury advisor and transaction banking partner.
  • Identify and convert liquidity, deposit and cash management opportunities across the assigned portfolio.
  • Partner with coverage bankers and deal teams to identify GTB opportunities arising from lending, capital markets, advisory and sponsor relationships.
  • Lead senior treasury-focused client discussions, proposals, RFPs and relationship planning.
  • Develop targeted strategies to attract operating deposits and strategic liquidity balances.
  • Advise clients on cash concentration, account structures, liquidity optimization, short-term investments, payments, collections, receivables, payables, digital treasury and working capital optimization.
  • Design customized solutions aligned with client operating models, strategic priorities, controls and risk requirements.
  • Apply disciplined pricing and relationship economics, balancing client value, liquidity characteristics, funding objectives and the total relationship perspective.
  • Work in collaboration with internal partners across Treasury, Product, Operations and Technology from origination through implementation, adoption and ongoing service to meet clients’ expectations.
  • Maintain disciplined client plans and opportunity pipelines, with clear visibility on portfolio performance, risks and execution milestones.
  • Monitor market, regulatory, technology and competitive developments affecting corporate treasuries and translate relevant themes into proactive client conversations.
  • Represent National Bank at selected client, treasury and industry events across Quebec.

Your Team

You will join the Global Transaction Banking team within Corporate & Investment Banking at NBCCM and report to the Director, Global Transaction Banking, Quebec Region. You will work closely with senior partners across Capital Markets, Treasury, Risk Management Solutions, Product, Operations and Technology.

This individual-contributor role offers the opportunity to help build the next phase of the GTB franchise in Quebec. You will have meaningful ownership of strategic client relationships and the opportunity to shape how NBCCM addresses clients’ treasury, liquidity and transaction banking priorities. Combining local-market leadership with the breadth of NBCCM, you will help turn strategic client needs into measurable deposit, revenue and relationship outcomes.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial and commercially minded professional who can act independently, navigate a matrixed organization and mobilize internal partners around client opportunities. The ideal candidate is client-focused, collaborative and capable of converting strategic dialogue into commercially viable solutions.

This position is based in Montreal, Quebec, with travel within Quebec and elsewhere in Canada, as required.
