Description

Black & McDonald is currently seeking a Mechanical Foreman to join our Construction team in Vancouver! If you are a hands-on, customer service-oriented, and technically-inclined professional searching for the opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you. The Mechanical Foreman position is located in Vancouver, BC and typically reports to the Project Manager.

The Mechanical Foreman is responsible to provide support in the management of field construction within the mechanical trade on a mechanical project(s) including planning, organizing, directing and controlling various aspects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget. They will manage labor and subcontractor schedules, safety, quality, and keep the Project Manager well-informed of progress, discrepancies, and any impacts to the project plan. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Enforces all company health, safety, and environment policies and procedures
  • Supervises a crew of employees (5-10) and prioritizes work accordingly
  • Plan, in conjunction with the Project Manager the execution of assigned projects
  • Maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships
  • Assist with monitoring job costs, reporting, forecasting, and productivity
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of the construction plan including scheduling and logistics
  • Participate in the oversight of subcontractors and subordinate staff activities
  • Provide support in field administration: timesheets, project reports, and material purchases
  • Conducts toolbox meetings as required to review overall operations

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Journeyman Trade Qualification

    WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • 5-7 years field experience in Mechanical Construction
    • Experience as a Mechanical Foreman or in a supervisory capacity is an asset

    SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    • Knowledgeable in building materials and systems
    • Proven Planning and Scheduling Skills
    • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
    • Understanding of applicable local and provincial labour codes
    • Computer skills related to Microsoft applications
    • UA170 Membership

    Wages are in accordance with the UA Plumber & Pipefitters Local 170 Standard ICI Agreement Commercial Rate Schedule. Total Monetary Package of $73.77/hr – $76.52/hr (depending on experience and trade certifications).
