Software Development Engineer in Test I (sdet I)

If yes, we are looking for someone like you to join our team. We are currently hiring for Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET I) in our technology team. As an SDET I you will ensure high-quality deliverables. You'll work with cross-functional teams to maintain QA integrity for major deployments, test new features, and handle regression testing.

We’re hiring two roles to join our SDET community: 

• SDET 1 – Best Buy Media and Ads Team

• SDET 1 – Order Management System Team

We are currently hiring for a 12-month fixed-term opportunity within our SDET community.

We practice a remote first working model, leveraging in person interactions at our head office, in beautiful Vancouver, BC, for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes.

What you'll do as a Software Development Engineer in Test I (SDET I): 

• Transform traditionally manual tests into scalable automation scripts.

• Design, document, build and execute functional and regression automated tests.

• Actively participate in Grooming/Sprint Planning sessions and work with product and development teams to define the priorities of tasks.

• Configuring and maintaining test automation frameworks on multiple systems.

• Working with deployment teams, resolving issues, coordinating on product design, and offering inputs on testability of functional elements and product design.

• Participate in reviews and discussions of specifications such as user stories and designs and provide feedback concerning completeness, accuracy, and testability.

• Log Bugs in JIRA with accurate details and steps to help development pinpoint trouble areas.

What we’re looking for:

• 1+ year of test automation experience using Java, Groovy or JavaScript.

• 1+ year of experience planning, designing, developing, and executing tests.

• 1+ year of experience with TestNG Spock Framework and/or Selenium or Playwright.

• Strong understanding of data structures and data manipulation.

• Working knowledge of Git/GitHub, Jenkins, and JIRA.

• Knowledge of common QA and SW development processes and methodologies – especially with working in an Agile environment.

• Knowledge of REST APIs and database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).

• Ability to use AI agents and prompts to accelerate automation.

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and containerization (Kubernetes, OpenShift).

Annualized Compensation Range

$62,000.00 - $70,000.00

Starting pay offered will consider skills and experience. Your pay can grow as you build your career with us.
