We are looking for a Fitter/ Welder to join our manufacturing facility in Grimsby, Ontario.In this role, you will fabricate, fit, and weld structural steel and metal components used in the construction of modular buildings. You will work from drawings and specifications to assemble high-quality components while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

Job Responsibilities:  

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair structural steel components by interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, technical specifications, and work orders. 

• Measure, mark, and lay out reference points on structural steel to ensure accurate fitting and assembly. 

• Fit and align metal components and assemblies in accordance with drawings and production requirements. 

• Safely operate overhead cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment to transport materials throughout the production area. 

• Perform welding activities using FCAW and other approved welding processes to produce high-quality structural assemblies. 

• Set up, adjust, and operate fabrication equipment including torches, drills, grinders, clamps, squares, and other hand and power tools. 

• Complete cutting, grinding, cleaning, and surface preparation of metal components prior to and following welding activities. 

• Apply knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and equipment to ensure quality workmanship and production efficiency. 

• Proactively identify quality, safety, or production concerns and communicate them to supervisors while supporting corrective actions. 

• Accurately complete production records, work documentation, and reporting requirements. 

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by following all company policies, procedures, and applicable safety regulations. 

• Conduct all work with integrity and professionalism while supporting ATCO's commitment to safety, quality, and ethical business practices. 

• Support other manufacturing and production activities as required to meet operational objectives.

Job Qualifications:  

• A team player and a safe worker, who can safely handle materials and operate hand, power & welding tools. 

• Experience in structural welding, fitting, and fabrication of steel assemblies in a manufacturing or construction environment. 

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, welding symbols, and specifications. 

• Comfortable working with both metric and imperial measurements and using precision measuring tools. 

• Experience operating overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and material handling devices is considered an asset. 

• Current FCAW certification is preferred; previous CWB certification or welding qualifications are considered an asset. 

• Proficient in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment. 

• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality workmanship. 

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and address issues effectively. 

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing positively within a team environment.

• Comfortable bending, kneeling, working at heights, reaching and lifting upto 55lbs unassisted
