Health Shared Services (HSS) is in search of two Senior Financial Analysts for their External Financial Reporting team. Under the general direction of the Manager, External Financial Reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst will support the Financial Reporting team in delivering financial reporting services within HSS. The Senior Financial Analyst will primarily be focused on internal and external reporting and associated elements to meet legislative and audit requirements. This job will encompass a variety of projects and tasks which could include assisting in the preparation and coordination of the external audit processes from planning and execution to the final fieldwork and reporting of audit results for HSS, reporting accurate, relevant, reliable and timely financial reporting to senior executives and the public. This will include monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, and other reporting as required, research of technical accounting issues, interpret applicability to HSS, and recommend financial statement treatment to the external financial reporting management team, preparation of regulatory returns, and preparation and assistance with external grant reporting as required. This is currently a remote work from home position and therefore applications from across the province are welcome. Description:

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will coordinate and/or prepare complex financial and statistical analysis and reports, along with providing interpretation of analyses and reports to support business and external requirements. Your work will be focused on budgets, forecasting, recommendations for program and/or cost efficiencies and development or enhancements to processes and controls. In addition, you will coordinate and monitor progress of financial projects, as well as coach and guide other department staff such as Financial Analysts.

Required Qualifications:

Post secondary degree specializing in accounting or related field (e.g. economics, statistics).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful candidates should be knowledgeable of accounting principles and financial statement preparation for large and complex clients in a public sector setting. Experience in managing a single entity financial statement audit including the preparation of the required audited financial statements is required. Knowledgeable of tax return preparation and proven ability to work with stakeholders to prepare effective analysis and financial reports. Ability to work within tight reporting deadlines and strong working knowledge of MS Office Suit applications, specifically Excel and Word. Ability to function within a collaborative team environment, excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently with guidance in only the most complex situations are required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has demonstrated strong and current understanding of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and other sections of GAAP. Three to five years of accounting/financial reporting experience with preference given to experience within a large, complex public sector entity. Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation is preferred. Experience with mentoring junior staff is preferred.
