Respiratory Therapist III

Your Opportunity:

The role of the Professional Practice Lead (PPL), Respiratory Therapy, is to advance the professional practice of the Respiratory Therapy discipline to support excellence in patient and family centered health care. As the PPL you will align planning and policy development, service delivery and evaluation of the Respiratory Therapy Program for the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) and Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. This PPL position reports to the Manager of Respiratory Therapy for the UAH and Mazankowski Heart Institute. In the PPL role you will lead program development, evaluation and knowledge translation based on patient, population, service sector and/or zone needs. Additionally, the PPL provides professional practice support to clinicians, and discipline-specific professional expertise to operational managers and directors to meet their needs such as emerging trends, scope of practice, staff mix, service models, service outcome targets and accreditation. You will also support the achievement of service sector or zone goals within AHS using practice-informed decision-making tools.

Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist III, you will be responsible for mentoring, promoting standards of practice, responding to clinical questions, and coordinating ongoing skill and student development within your team. You will collaborate with managers and supervisors in the provision and access to internal and external continuing education and professional development programs including certifications and upgrades.
