Pharmacist I

Your Opportunity:

As a member of the Alberta Health Services Pharmacy Services team, the Pharmacist I will provide high-quality direct patient care for acute care and LTC beds as well as consultative care for patients in the emergency department. This position clinically supports both Barrhead and Westlock patients. The Pharmacist I supports drug distribution functions with the technician and/or assistant team at the site. The pharmacist will also actively participate in interdisciplinary patient care teams and rounds; collaborate with patients, physicians and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care; utilize Additional Prescribing Authorization to optimize patient medication regimens; optimize therapy for acute and chronic disease management; empower patients in managing their medical conditions through promotion of healthy lifestyle choices, education and direct patient care; facilitate smooth transitions between care settings; actively participate in professional practice development and growth with support from dedicated Clinical Practice Leaders and pharmacy managers. The pharmacy team in the NE Zone also offers support to other teams across the zone as required. Potential for monetary incentive through Canada Student Loan Forgiveness and HSAA Rural Capacity Investment Fund if position qualifies.

Description:

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
