Your Opportunity:

The Manager of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD) is a key operational leader responsible for the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality medical device reprocessing services that support clinical care at Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) and the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The Manager provides leadership in the implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of provincially established MDR standards, policies, and practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention and control, and patient safety requirements. Through effective operational leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and a focus on quality and performance, the Manager drives service excellence and supports the achievement of organizational and provincial healthcare priorities. The position is supported by two Unit Managers and reports directly to the Executive Director, Surgical, MDRD and Anesthesia Services.

Description:

The Manager provides operational leadership for MDRD, supporting clinical services across the FMC site. This role is responsible for operational planning, project implementation, issue resolution, risk mitigation, and the coordination of initiatives at both the Calgary Corridor and provincial levels. The Manager fosters a positive work environment, promotes collaboration and accountability, and develops effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, clinical teams, support services, and MDRD leaders across the Calgary Corridor. Accountable for the overall direction, organization, and performance of the department, the Manager advances the goals of Alberta Health Services while ensuring compliance with infection prevention and control standards, decontamination and sterilization requirements, and medical device reprocessing best practices. The role provides leadership for the implementation, oversight, and continuous evaluation of provincially approved standards, policies, and procedures. The Manager is responsible for the stewardship of financial, human, and operational resources, including workforce planning, performance management, and resource optimization, to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable service delivery. As a key operational leader, the Manager demonstrates sound judgment, strategic thinking, and effective decision-making. The role is accountable for achieving results that meet regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements while advancing quality, safety, innovation, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will be an innovative and collaborative leader with demonstrated experience leading change in a complex healthcare environment.
