The Facilities Maintenance & Engineering (FM&E) Centre of Expertise (CoE) at Health Shared Services (formerly Alberta Health Services) is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Planner to provide provincial direction, coordination, and support for maintenance management processes and systems across Alberta's healthcare facilities portfolio. Reporting within the FM&E CoE, the Maintenance Planner serves as a subject matter expert supporting the FM&E associated aspects of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including maintenance planning, asset management, preventive maintenance, demand maintenance, and testing of CMMS system updates/ enhancements. The role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining provincial standards, processes, procedures, and documentation related to maintenance planning and work management. The position supports provincial initiatives including Digital Project Delivery (DPD), continuous process improvement, change management, data governance, and business process optimization. Working closely with Capital Systems and other provincial Centres of Expertise, the Maintenance Planner contributes to system enhancements, standard operating procedures, reporting frameworks, and automation opportunities using technologies such as SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, and Microsoft Copilot.
As a Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance work for equipment repairs, preventative maintenance and capital work within the hospital facilities, in accordance with directives, procedures, standards and practices. You will manage and maintain the computerized maintenance system for demand and preventative maintenance. In addition, you will monitor, develop and implement the maintenance procedures for all buildings and special user equipment.
Completion of post-secondary education in a related trade or technology program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Related education a/o experience may be considered. Experience developing maintenance procedures, work standards, maintenance plans, & process documentation. Strong analytical, organizational, & problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities & stakeholders. Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, & technical writing skills. Proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint & SharePoint. Demonstrated experience utilizing a/o supporting CMMS emphasizing asset, equipment, building, space data management, preventive & demand maintenance workflows, work routing, user & resource management, testing, validation, & continuous improvement of system functionality. Experience facilitating stakeholder engagement, delivering user training, & leading working groups, committees, workshops, or communities of practice to build alignment & drive standardization across multiple operational areas. Knowledge of maintenance planning & scheduling best practices, reliability-centered maintenance principles, preventive maintenance program development, healthcare facility operations, applicable codes, regulations, & accreditation requirements. Demonstrated ability to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), toolboxes, workflows, business requirements, governance documents, & process documentation. Ability to work independently while managing complex assignments & competing priorities in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience supporting e-Facilities or a comparable enterprise CMMS within a healthcare environment. Experience testing system upgrades, patches, and enhancements. Knowledge of Digital Project Delivery (DPD) processes and capital asset data integration. Experience using SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, and Microsoft Copilot to analyze data, develop reporting tools, automate workflows, improve business processes, and support decision-making.
