Are you a skilled and compassionate nursing leader looking to make a meaningful impact in a close-knit community? Join our dedicated multidisciplinary team in Peace River as an Assistant Head Nurse within our Medical/Surgical/Obstetrics Postpartum and Labour and Delivery. In this leadership role, you will partner with the Care Manager to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care across a diverse and rewarding rural practice setting. You will coordinate staff assignments, facilitate patient flow, serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff, and provide frontline care as needed. Drawing on your advanced clinical expertise and judgment, you will contribute to the resolution of complex healthcare issues in collaboration with patients, families, interprofessional teams, administrators, and policymakers. You will play a key role in staff development, skills assessment, and mentorship, while fostering a positive, collaborative team environment focused on clinical excellence and continuous improvement. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:As required.
Preferred Qualifications:OBS, NRP, ACLS, Med/surg experience, medication administration all routes, organizational and critical thinking skills, ability to work independently.
