The Ministry of Immigration and Multiculturalism has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Director, Corporate Planning and Risk Management!
The Corporate Planning and Services branch is focused on driving alignment between the government and ministry priorities and the activities of the department through the provision of a broad range of corporate supports and services.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for the ministry's business planning, risk management, change management and accountability processes, as well as implementation of corporate and enterprise-wide strategies initiatives. This includes development of the ministry business plan, operational plan, annual report and the deputy minister's performance contract; the ministry’s enterprise risk management framework; business continuity and contingency planning, consequent management and change management plans and processes.
This position works closely with the senior and executive management to shape the ministry’s strategic direction, ensuring all business planning documents communicate this direction, helping department leadership and staff understand and support this direction in their roles, and ensure staff safety and business continuity in the event of a disruption to the ministry’s work. It is also responsible for supporting cross-ministry collaboration, coordination and implementation of enterprise and department-wide initiatives.

This may include identifying barriers and looking for different ways to achieve the work outputs. This role must engage stakeholders to understand challenges and perspectives and find solutions to meet their needs.
AGILITY: The Director must work within broad directives or mandates with limited specific guidance on how to execute. This position has autonomy and flexibility in how these outcomes are achieved. The Director must also be able to move back and forth between strategic and operational thinking depending on the circumstances and issue at hand (e.g. from strategic planning to consequence management).
BUILD COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENTS: This position must work across divisions and varying groups of stakeholders, including leadership, to collect perspectives and facilitate communication. This position is responsible for ensuring the organization understands Ministry objectives and how their work aligns to this.
Requirements:
• University graduation in a field related to the position assignment, supplemented by seven years related experience; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience.
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
The following knowledge or experiences are considered as assets:
• Strong knowledge of the Government Accountability Act and related policies and processes.
• Extensive knowledge of strategic planning and enterprise risk management concepts and practices.
• Extensive knowledge of government business planning process, deliverables, and related processes.

This is a permanent full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
