Commercial Data Insights Analyst

Reporting to a Manager, Commercial Data Insights, the Commercial Data Insights Analyst will support the Revenue Management, Sales, Network Planning and Alliances branches by implementing corporate data governance policies from a commercial perspective and ensuring that commercial data is available, reliable and properly understood by downstream consumers and process owners. The incumbent will be a subject matter expert who understands both the business meaning of data as well as how data is stored and maintained in back-end database systems and will have a sound knowledge of data lineage and retention. The Commercial Data Insights Analyst will be responsible for documenting how commercial data should be accessed and queried and will be responsible for overseeing data access policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Excellent understanding of Commercial airline industry data and how operating procedures produce and impact downstream commercial data assets. 
• Maintains the corporate data dictionary documentation and business glossary.
• Maintains Commercial reference data assets in corporate reference data management tool.
• Designs and monitors data quality dashboards for data completeness and quality assurance initiatives.
• Responds to questions from commercial as well as other branches with respect to commercial data usage.
• Participates in data initiatives in terms of analysis, solutions, and testing of changes to existing data storage as well as the onboarding of new data and decommissioning of older data structures and solutions.
• Investigates data anomalies and discrepancies. Understands the root cause and recommends corrective measures. 
• Supports testing of data, either for new data or changes to existing data structures or sources.
• Answer requests from auditors. 
• Performs security audits. Ensure access to data is as per privacy rules.
• Reports to the Manager, Commercial Data Insights and performs other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• University degree in related field (Mathematics, Statistics, BI, Operations Research, Computer science) or 2 years of pertinent experience in a Business position which focuses on Commercial data.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  
• Autonomous and able to drive data related projects with minimal supervision.
  
• Excellent communicator to both business as well as technical audiences.
  
• Sound commercial understanding of Airline performance and commercial data.
  
• Ability to understand and relate required analysis to business implications.
  
• Detail oriented.
  
• Knowledge of SQL is an asset.
  
• Proven organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  
• Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and ability to take initiative.
