Job Description

Reporting to the Civil (Structures) Department Manager, the incumbent will participate in the delivery of major projects in the hydropower and energy infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will contribute to feasibility studies, preliminary design, detailed engineering, as well as rehabilitation and modernization projects for existing facilities, including pumped storage plants, conventional hydroelectric generating stations, and dams.

As part of their responsibilities, the successful candidate will:

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with clients to identify project requirements and present technical information, concepts, and study results;
• Assist the Project Manager in monitoring, coordinating, and tracking the progress and delivery of design team outputs;
• Prepare budget estimates;
• Perform and/or supervise structural design calculations, including stability analyses, and ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, guidelines, and regulations;
• Review engineering concepts and verify design calculations prepared by others;
• Review and prepare tender documents, construction packages, and other technical documentation;
• Supervise engineers, technicians, and drafters assigned to projects;
• Perform other related duties required to support successful project execution.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering);
• Registered and in good standing with a Canadian engineering regulatory body (P.Eng. or equivalent);
• Minimum 6 years of experience in structural design and analysis;
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel design;
• Proficiency with structural analysis software;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. French language skills are considered an asset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the design of reinforced concrete and structural steel structures within the hydropower and dam sectors, including powerhouses, dams, water-retaining structures, and underground works;
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as Advance Design, ANSYS, and/or ABAQUS;
• Master's degree in Civil Engineering (Structures);
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to maintain positive working relationships with clients and project stakeholders;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, as some assignments associated with this role are outside Quebec.
