Is Business Analyst

Our Commercial and IT group is currently looking to add a contract Business Analyst, based in Calgary, AB

Reporting to the Director, Commercial and IT, we are seeking a dedicated professional with knowledge and experience to bridge operational process design with the technology that supports it. This role sits at the intersection of field operations, ERP systems, and process automation — mapping how work actually happens on the ground and identifying where technology (RPA, workflow tools, integrations) can remove friction, reduce manual effort, and improve data quality.

Please Note: this is a contract position for a term of 6-months to start with the potential to transition to full-time based on performance and business need.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Document and analyze current-state operational process flows across commercial, field, and back-office functions
• Identify opportunities for automation (RPA, workflow tools) and lead requirements gathering for implementation
• Work within ERP systems to support configuration, reporting, and integration needs
• Partner with field data capture platforms to ensure data flows accurately from the field into core systems
• Write and troubleshoot SQL queries to extract, validate, and transpose data across systems
• Support data pipeline and analytics work in Databricks — querying, transforming, and validating data across lakehouse environments
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications for IT/vendor teams
• Support system implementations, upgrades, and data migrations from a business-process perspective
• Act as liaison between operations, IT/IS, and external vendors/consultants

Requirements

• 5+ years in a business analyst, systems analyst, or process improvement role
• Working knowledge of SQL (querying, joins, basic data transformation)
• Experience with ERP systems (implementation, support, or super-user level)
• Exposure to field data capture / mobile data collection tools (construction, energy, or field services industry a plus)
• Familiarity with RPA or workflow automation concepts and tools (UiPath, Power Automate, or similar)
• Experience working in Databricks or similar cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Synapse) for data querying and transformation
• Strong process-mapping skills (BPMN, flowcharting, or similar)
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate between technical and operational stakeholders
• Comfortable working in a contract capacity with the flexibility and initiative that entails
