Relic is an award-winning developer of genre-defining strategy games including Warhammer: Dawn of War, Homeworld, Company of Heroes, and Age of Empires IV. Newly independent, we are positioned to better serve our players, experiment with exciting new game ideas, and continue delivering the rich interactive experiences players have come to expect from us over the last 25 years.

We have a unique opportunity for aSenior UX Designerto join our Vancouver studio and work on our UX/UI team supportingRelic’s existing and future strategy titles.As akey member ofthe UX/UI team, you will help shape how players experience our games by translating complex systems into intuitive, engaging, and accessible experiences.

As a Senior UX Designer, you will… 

• Definefront-end, in-game HUD and gameplay interactions through wireframes and prototypes

• Design the logic, layout, and flow of in-game user interface elements to make them easy to understand and navigate

• Balance the needs of design, art, player expectations, and gameplay to create an engaging player experience

• Understand the intent of various game systems and bring that vision to life through UI

• Champion user experience at every level of the game

• Collaborate across teams to give and receive feedback

• Be the architect of how information is organized and presented to players

You're a great fit if you have...

• Experience designing and prototyping control schemes for PC, Handheld, and Console

• Experience taking titles fromconcept to completion

• Excellent communication and documentation skills, and the ability to produce clear designs that describe the experience

• Strong working knowledge of interaction design toolssuch asFigma orAdobe XD

• Proven skills using various UX design methods: contextual inquiry, card sorting, user journeys, personas, wireframes, etc.

• Foundational graphic design skills (spacing, layout, typography, imagery)

• Curiosity and a desire to learn and grow with us

It’s a bonus if you have…

• Experience working on a strategy or RTS-like title

• Experience working on a live service game or supporting a title post-launch

• Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel and Tableau

• Experience with WPF, XAML and Microsoft Blend

Compensation

The salary range for this positionlocated in British Columbia is between $93,500 - $127,500 CAD a year. The salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, knowledge, skills and competencies, and business or organization needs.
