Whatyou'lldo

• Conduct legal research and analysis on a broad range of legal issues relevant to FCC's business and operations

• Prepare legal memoranda, briefing notes, summaries,presentationsand other materials for internal stakeholders

• Support in-house counsel on commercial lending and financing matters, corporate transactions, governance initiatives, employmentmattersand litigation files 

• Assistwith drafting,reviewingand revising legal agreements, policies,proceduresand other business documents

• Support the management of litigation and employment-related matters, including legal research, document reviewand fact gathering

• Contribute to the development and review of lending documentation, governance materials,policiesand internal guidance

• Participate in strategic projects, including new products, business initiatives, policydevelopmentand process improvement efforts

• Attend meetings with lawyers, businessteamsand external counsel to gain exposure to legal and business decision-making

• SupportCorporateSecretary activities and governance processes

• Collaborate with legal professionals across multiple practice areas and business functions

Whatyou’llbring to the team

Required qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Juris Doctor (JD), Bachelor of Laws (LLB)or equivalent law degree program at an accredited lawschool (preference may be given to second- and third-year law students)

• Strong interest in developing a broad understanding of legal practice in an in-house environment

• Excellent legal research, analyticaland problem-solving skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely

• Sound judgment and the ability to develop practical recommendations

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

• Proficiencywith Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel,Outlookand PowerPoint

Preferred qualifications:

• Coursework or experience related to corporate law, commercial law, employment law, civil litigation, contract law, banking and finance,or governance

• Experience conducting legal research and preparing legal memoranda through academic, co-op,volunteeror professional experiences

• Knowledge of financial services, commercial lending, governance, public-sectororganizationsor regulated industries

• Bilingualism (English and French)is an asset.
