The Institute for Advanced Medical Isotopes (IAMI) is a state-of-the-art facility for research into next-generation, life-saving medical isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals. Located on TRIUMF’s campus, it will comprise an integrated series of labs and a TR-24 medical cyclotron, one of the most technologically advanced commercial cyclotrons in the world. IAMI will significantly increase British Columbia’s and Canada’s capacity for the sustainable and reliable production and distribution of medical isotopes currently critical for Canadian health research and clinical use, including Technetium-99m and Fluorine-18.

We are seeking a Radiopharmaceutical Quality Control supervisor for IAMI. In this crucial role, you will be supervising as well as partly carrying out day-to-day quality control testing on injectable radiopharmaceuticals and radioisotopes prepared for the IAMI program. Join us at TRIUMF and play a vital role in the success of our Life Sciences Research Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervising as well as regular execution of daily quality control testing of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals
  • Establishing Quality Control documentation for each batch of radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical
  • Writing, maintaining and updating quality control documentation including standard test methods, and standard operating procedures
  • Maintaining supplies and records of quality control and production consumables including precursors, chemicals and reagents
  • Establishing and maintaining of a vendor qualification program
  • Maintaining training files for operators
  • Helping to maintain general laboratory organization such as storage, housekeeping, and database updating
  • Maintaining the environmental control program
  • Monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators such as quality control test results, viable and particulate results etc., and devising strategies for process improvement based on trending data.
  • Training technicians in safe and GMP-compliant quality control tasks and documentation
  • Monitoring and improving the production process performance through KPIs

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

While the official supervisory responsibilities associated with this position are initially shared with the PET production supervisor, team growth is expected to occur with the commissioning of IAMI, at which point the quality control supervisor will provide supervision to dedicated quality control technicians.

NUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER:

The position requires the incumbent to be trained and designated as a TRIUMF NEW. TRIUMF will provide this training for the successful candidate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • PhD in chemistry, ideally radiochemistry
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 5 years of practical lab-based radiochemistry experience, ideally in the radiopharmaceutical field
  • Experience with multiple radionuclides, including radiometals
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment such as HPLC, radio-TLC and GC

$86,100.00 - $107,600.00
