About the Role:

 

Join ATCO Gas as a casual Dispatcher in our 24-hour operations in Edmonton. You should anticipate near full-time training for 3-4 months, followed by an average of 70-100 hours monthly, with both scheduled shifts and potential same-day requests.

 

As a Dispatcher, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our services. You will handle both emergency and routine communication from both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective dispatching using various communication channels, while also supporting broader organizational objectives.

 

 

What You’ll Do: 

• Receive and prioritize inquiries from both internal and external customers, ensuring efficient dispatch to the relevant personnel.
• Adhere to and execute emergency guidelines and company Work Procedures.
• Manage requests for resources, including materials, services, and information.
• Monitor and support the coordination of operational tasks, ensuring the effective use of company personnel.
• Enforce and promote adherence to the company's working-alone procedures.
• Oversee service calls for quality assurance, confirming process requirements are met.
• Interpret company electronic plans, assisting internal customers in comprehending gas facilities.
• Educate customers on basic operation of natural gas equipment.
• Contribute to the maintenance of Work Procedures and related documentation.
• Undertake any additional duties as required.

What we are looking for/Who You Are:

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Certificate in Emergency Communications and Response would be considered an asset.
• Proficient in keyboarding and familiar with software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Prior experience in emergency call handling, priority call handling, and use of dispatching systems is desirable.
• Knowledge of Customer Service and Natural Gad Utility Operations is advantageous.
• Competence in reading and interpreting maps, coordinates, and work plans will be beneficial.
• Exceptional judgement, decision-making skills, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Capability to operate both independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Proven ability to multitask, problem-solve, and prioritize in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, maintaining a customer-centric approach.

Operational Requirements:

• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including 12-hours and overnight when necessary
