Job Description

Position Summary:  

The Representative, Cross Sales – Drayage, is responsible for supporting all business development initiatives and related activities generated within the Cross Sales team at MSC Canada. The team is entrusted with selling all value-added services (excluding ocean freight) for MSC Canada, which includes, but is not limited to, trucking services (drayage, over-the-road), transloading, warehousing, customs clearance, etc., with an initial focus on drayage services. 

The Representative, Cross Sales – Drayage also oversees MSC Canada's value-added services and is tasked with establishing contact with both new and existing customers, identifying new opportunities and following up on potential leads. He will have access to all internal customer data, will be responsible for identifying trends and developing plans to expand value-added services revenue and volumes.  

We are seeking an individual with a proven sales track record, an entrepreneurial mindset with strong qualifications, and the ability to build and manage a sales pipeline effectively. 

Level of Responsibility  

Moderate task and problem complexity, enhanced accountability to the customer and to the business area. Requires autonomy in the role and is expected in contributing significantly to the team and organizational projects. 

Leading projects/workstreams, and responsible for outcomes/strategic impact on department or business unit performance. 

Expected to convert value-added services sales, drive innovation, and improve processes within their domain. 

Qualifications

Key Tasks 

  • Develop and implement a competitive growth plan for the Canadian market. 
  • Provide complete customer service from initial contact to delivery; understand shipping needs, negotiate rates, and contract carriers. 
  • Manage multiple priorities and maintain business information flow with urgency. 
  • Collaborate with the MSC Canada ocean cargo sales team. 
  • Engage in thorough prospecting using various channels. 
  • Understand commercial opportunities and handle all commercial requests to support and drive growth for MSC Canada's value-added services. 
  • Manage his own client portfolio; always available and accountable for our customers. 
  • Fulfill all necessary service requirements and ensure that all organizational needs are met by reporting and meeting KPI metrics. 
  • Deliver excellent customer service to clients via phone or email promptly. (e.g., follow-ups, updates, and announcements). 
  • Identify current and historical business activities within portfolio accounts. 
  • Meet mandated sales call KPIs on a weekly basis. 
  • Report on opportunities and discussions from weekly sales calls. 
  • Monitor and achieve sales targets (weekly, monthly, annually). 
  • Participate in face-to-face meetings with customers. 

Skills / Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in a related field. 
  • Business School Certificates (an asset) 
  • 2-3 years B2B sales experience within the supply chain industry. 
  • Enthusiastic and energetic individual with an entrepreneurial attitude, fearlessness when it comes to hunting new business. 
  • Enjoys a fast-paced collaborative environment. 
  • Proven ability to take initiative and set priorities and demonstrates a high sense of urgency as well as an ability to work independently. 
  • Prompt and consistent in initiating or following up on client requests/issues; approach problems logically and with demonstrated good judgment. 
  • Demonstrates well-developed negotiation and interpersonal skills: comfortable with a variety of people at all organizational levels. 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task: able to manage the workload and their time effectively, attaining specified targets, ensuring accuracy, correctness and speed are maintained, when deadlines are tight, and the pressure is on. 
  • Bilingual (French / English) - written and spoken. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills is adept at growing and maintaining productive business relationships; 
  • Communicates in a clear, professional manner; consistently courteous and respectful with a highly developed sense of integrity and understanding of their role. 
  • Must have access to a vehicle and have a valid Quebec driver’s license. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
