Arts, Culture and Status of Women works to improve Albertans’ quality of life through support of cultural development, historical preservation, and increased gender equality. We support the development and sustainability of Alberta's creative and cultural industries, artists and arts community, and non-profit / voluntary sector, and increase gender equality by working with all other ministries to make sure gender and other identity factors are reflected in Alberta government policies, programs, and legislation.

Role Responsibilities

The Status of Women and Inclusion (SWI) branch works to increase gender equity, end violence against women and girls, promote women’s economic empowerment and promote inclusion into government’s policies and programs. 

The roles and responsibilities of the Senior Policy Analyst include:

  • Developing and project managing advanced policy and program work associated with the creation, review, evaluation and implementation of issues related to the status of women and gender equality policies in support of the ministry’s strategic objectives. 
  • Conducting research, analyzing relevant information and providing value-added interpretation in a timely manner.
  • Assessing current approaches, recommending best practices and forecasting emerging and future trends.
  • Designing and implementing effective strategic engagement and consultative processes, frameworks and initiatives in support of ACSW priorities and commitments. 
  • Support the implementation of Premier mandated items impacting the status of women and gender equality. 
  • Establishing and maintaining meaningful partnerships between community organizations, private sector organizations and ministries across government to broaden the base of support for community actions and government initiatives.
  • Working with other orders of government, cross-ministry and community partners to advance joint work and innovative policies that improve the status of women, women’s economic participation and labour market attachment outcomes. 
     

The Senior Policy Analyst reports to the Director, Status of Women.

Qualifications

University graduation in in a social science or related field of study plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience. Equivalencies will be considered.
 

Equivalency:

Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
 

Skills and Assets:

Project management experience and/or statistical analysis would be an asset.
 

Strong writing skills are required.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.
