Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for seniors, families, and communities. The Ministry helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. Albertans are supported through a person-centered, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families. The ministry also provides oversight for the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee.
The Disability Services Division is working to help better connect Albertans to programs and services, and to ensure Albertans have access to the right services at the right time. The Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program and the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program work with individuals, children, and families within each of the differing program’s Legislation, Regulations and policies. FSCD/PDD caseworkers assess the support needs of individuals, children and families to provide individualized supports and services within the scope of each program.

In the Disability Services Caseworker role, you will be responsible for working collaboratively with children, families, individuals and guardians in identifying, and assessing support needs that are within the FSCD/PDD program mandate. You will assist in supporting children and adults with disabilities through assessments, referrals, service planning, collaborating with supports and services, and ongoing service monitoring.
As a Disability Services Caseworker, you will be required to administer the FSCD and/or PDD program as outlined in Policy and Regulation.
Working within tight timelines, you will prioritize and manage deadlines for a variety of case management activities. Using your interpersonal and communication skills to build internal and external partnerships and manage conflict as it arises. Participating in a variety of working groups and team meetings will give you a chance to utilize your change management and teamwork skills

Minimum Recruitment Standards:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Master’s Degree of Social Work with some related employment experience.
Equivalencies considered:
Preference will be given to candidates with a Degree or a Master of Social Work or a related degree in Psychology, Community Development, Rehabilitation, or Disability Studies with 4 years of related employment experience.
Related employment experience:
A valid Class 5 operator's license and access to a reliable vehicle is essential, as travel is a requirement of the role.

There are full-time permanent positions available, and we welcome applicants from the locations in the following worksites to support vacancies across our province.
North Zone:
North Alberta: Edmonton and greater area.
North West Alberta: Slave Lake, Hinton, Edson, High Prairie, Peace River, High Level, Whitecourt, and Grande Prairie.
North East Alberta: St. Paul, Vegreville, Bonnyville, Cold Lake, Fort McMurray, Lac La Biche, Barrhead, Athabasca, and Westlock.
South Zone:
Calgary, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Red Deer, Olds, Wetaskiwin, Camrose, Drumheller, Lloydminster, Wainwright, Brooks and Rocky Mountain House.
As per the Health Professions Act, successful applicants must be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) to be eligible for this position, if: (a) they have a degree in social work from any university in North America that is accredited by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) or the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE); or (b) they have graduated from an approved social work diploma program in Alberta; or (c) they have, within the last five years, been a registered, certified or licensed social worker in another province or with a member of the Association of Social Work Boards. Travel is a requirement for the position and incumbents must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Final candidates for this competition will be asked to undergo an academic verification and security screening. Due to wait times to receive a completed Criminal Records Check (CRC) that includes Vulnerable Sector screening check, applicants that are invited for an interview are encouraged to request a completed CRC (level 1) that includes Vulnerable Sector screening check from their local RCMP/Police detachment prior to their interview. The CRC will only need to be provided upon request. Additionally, a current and clear Intervention Records Check will need to be provided upon request.
Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate. Out-of-province applicants can obtain the required documents/checks from the province they currently reside in.
